As Chief Communications Officer (CCO), you will shape ICTER’s voice, reputation, culture, and communication systems – both internally and externally. You’ll collaborate with the Management Board, guiding communication around key decisions, opportunities, risks, and organisational change. This position sits at the heart of ICTER’s mission – ensuring coherence, clarity, and impact in everything we communicate.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Communications and Brand Positioning
- Developing and periodically updating ICTER’s overall communication strategy, in line with its scientific and institutional goals.
- Ensuring coherent, high-quality messaging across all internal and external channels (including websites, intranet, social media and other digital platforms).
- Overseeing the planning and delivery of communication activities and content, including supervision of promotional and informational materials (such as newsletters, articles, brochures, reports and similar).
- Coordinating media relations and public appearances of ICTER representatives, including preparation of key messages and support for interviews.
- Managing external service providers supporting communication activities, such as graphic design agencies, PR agencies, photographers and science editors.
Internal Communications and Organisational Culture
- Designing and overseeing internal communication practices and channels (including intranet, mailing lists, internal newsletters and meetings) to ensure that staff are informed and aligned with ICTER’s objectives.
- Co-creating and shaping ICTER’s organisational culture together with the Management Board and HR, including the articulation and communication of values and expected behaviours.
- Supporting the design and communication of initiatives aimed at collaboration, knowledge sharing and integration of new employees (including welcome information and presentation of new staff).
- Monitoring internal communication needs and proposing improvements supporting a positive and inclusive working environment.
Digital Communication and Knowledge Sharing
- Contributing to the selection, planning, and implementation of digital tools and solutions that support communication, collaboration and knowledge management at ICTER.
- Preparing and executing communication and change measures that facilitate the adoption and effective use of such tools by staff.
- Cooperating with internal IT and, if necessary, external providers of digital tools and platforms in matters related to ICTER’s digital workplace and communication systems.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of digital communication channels and proposing adjustments where needed.
Stakeholder and Ecosystem Relations
- Managing, from a communication perspective, ICTER’s relations with key external stakeholders, including partners, funders, media, public institutions, regulators, local communities and other members of the scientific and innovation ecosystem.
- Overseeing or coordinating communication aspects of events and initiatives promoting ICTER nationally and internationally, including activities related to socially responsible science and engagement with the broader ecosystem.
- Preparing or supervising communication-related inputs and reports for grant-giving institutions and other stakeholders, in line with applicable requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in strategic communications, public affairs, or similar leadership roles – ideally within research, science, public sector, or innovation environments.
- Strong understanding of brand positioning, narrative building, and reputation management.
- Excellent writing and editorial skills, able to craft high-quality content for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing media relations, including crisis or sensitive communication.
- Ability to design and run effective internal communication systems, and to support organisational culture development.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools, intranets, and knowledge-sharing platforms. Capable of driving digital adoption.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with external partners, agencies, and ecosystem actors.
- Project management discipline and the ability to coordinate multiple communication streams simultaneously.
- Ability to translate complex scientific or technical information into clear, engaging narratives.
- Fluent Polish and English is required.
What We Offer
- A collaborative, research-based environment,
- Competitive remuneration commensurate with experience (PLN 15,000-18,000 gross per month),
- Flexible working options (task-based work/occasional remote work),
- A friendly working atmosphere and team support,
- Training and professional development opportunities (courses, job shadowing),
- Private medical care.
How We’ll Work Together
You’ll collaborate daily with the Management Board, team leaders, researchers, HR, Operations, Finance, and IT. You’ll also interact frequently with external partners, agencies, media, and institutional stakeholders. While strategic in nature, this role is also hands-on: drafting, reviewing, advising, and guiding communication activities across the entire Centre. Expect a mix of on-site collaboration, dynamic decision-making, and close involvement in organisational development and digital transformation initiatives.
