What can we see when we look at the brain? Insights from interferometric near-infrared spectroscopy

Interferometric near-infrared spectroscopy (iNIRS) is an optical technique for non-invasive monitoring of cerebral blood flow in humans. In this seminar, the speaker will present recent progress in iNIRS, covering both its technical aspects and its practical use. Applications will be illustrated with examples of recent experimental results in humans.

About the speaker

Marcin Marzejon, Ph.D., is an optical engineer specializing in biomedical optics and imaging. He earned his Ph.D. summa cum laude in Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Space Technologies from Gdańsk University of Technology in 2023, with pioneering work on two-photon vision.

Dr Marzejon is currently a Specialist at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he develops advanced interferometric near-infrared spectroscopy techniques for non-invasive bioimaging. He has co-authored nine peer-reviewed papers, sixteen conference presentations, and holds two patents. His expertise spans fiber-optic sensors, Raman spectroscopy, two-photon vision and imaging, and quantitative phase imaging, alongside strong skills in software development, data analysis, and system prototyping.
