OCT Angiography and Oximetry: Prospects & Challenges

  • Speaker: PhD Vall Jia

Retinal vascular diseases are a leading cause of blindness. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has become the standard imaging modality in clinic. OCT angiography (OCTA) has been rapidly adopted in research and clinical settings. In this talk, the development of OCTA techniques for clinical use will be introduced, the application of artificial intelligence in OCTA will be reviewed, and high-performance OCTA prototypes will be discussed. OCT oximetry is new type of functional OCT, which has recently been achieved by visible-light OCT and used in preclinical and clintcal research. Altered retinal vascular oxygenation measured by OCT may benefit the research on ocular vascular biology and physiology and influence clinical diagnosis or management of retinal diseases. In this talk, the development of OCT oximetry on retinal capillaries and its applications on rodent models will be presented. At the end, the future directions of OCT angiography and oximetry will be discussed
