Coherent-light Doppler imaging by digital holography – laser Doppler holography – is a technique dedicated to visualisation of blood flow. It is based on detecting optical interferograms from light backscattered from the retina beating against a separate reference beam followed by digital image rendering. Measurement of the Doppler broadening allows to quantify an instantaneous velocity of red blood cells throughout the cardiac cycle. The analysis of the shape of the pulse-wave can provide important information about the mechanical properties of the retinal vessels. The same setup can be used for complementary cornea transparency imaging and aberration measurements
