Representative for virtual clinics (MCBO_2_11_2025) – competition ended, vacancy filled

We are seeking an expert in the development and testing of various diagnostic hub solutions, which will be created at the International Centre for Eye Research (ICTER), a centre of scientific excellence at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The diagnostic hub, comprising hardware, software, and an interface for patient care, will be developed as part of the TRIO-VI CoE (Translational Research and Innovation in Ophthalmology Vision – Centre of Excellence) project.


The Employee’s tasks will include:

  • Co-creating a diagnostic hub at ICTER – advising on medical aspects, defining clinical and operational requirements. Negotiating, testing, and selecting diagnostic equipment – preparing evaluation criteria, organising comparative tests, participating in negotiations with suppliers;
  • Support in the preparation of tender documentation, in particular in the development of technical specifications for equipment, contract terms and conditions, and materials necessary for subsequent stages of implementation;
  • Active participation in weekly meetings of the ICTER translation group, creating a diagnostic hub and establishing cooperation with the ophthalmological community – design and validation of diagnostic systems;
  • Participation in TRIO-VI CoE project consortium meetings and cooperation with project partners – coordination of inter-institutional cooperation activities with clinicians, exchange of know-how (at least two meetings per year, alternately in Warsaw, Paris, or London);
  • Participation in conferences to present the results of developing a virtual clinic, building a network of contacts with national and international clinicians, and promoting ICTER in the ophthalmology community by participating in meetings and conferences at the national and international level;
  • Representing ICTER in the Polish ophthalmology community – participating in industry meetings, conferences, and symposia. Training ICTER employees in the use of new ophthalmic diagnostic equipment – preparing training materials, conducting workshops, depending on the progress of the project and the needs of the Ordering Party;
  • Developing and testing ICTER ophthalmic telemedicine solutions, validating the asynchronous diagnosis system with the participation of the first patients of the virtual clinic (minimum 100 cases).
  • Planning and co-implementation of ICTER solution validation (new generation OCT, air-puff-OCT, etc.). Planning and supervision of AI diagnostic tool validation – evaluation of solutions based on open ML code, partner codes, and proprietary AI solutions developed at ICTER.

Our requirements:

  • An ophthalmologist with at least a doctoral degree,
  • Experience (min. 10 years) in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, practical knowledge and application of ophthalmic diagnostic techniques such as OCT, angiography, fundus, and perimetry,
  • Teaching experience in conducting training courses and educational programmes for doctors and/or medical staff,
  • Management skills – experience in organising and managing medical clinics or working as a head physician (planning, budgeting, process optimisation),
  • International perspective – practice in Western ophthalmic systems, knowledge of differences in medical procedure protocols and regulations,
  • Publications in renowned medical and physical journals,
  • Participation in European development and research projects,
  • Experience in telemedicine and remote consultations,
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and excellent communication skills in Polish and English at an advanced level, min. B2/C1.
