Sta\u017ce podoktorskie odby\u0142 na University of Washington oraz Case Western Reserve University, gdzie zajmowa\u0142 si\u0119 biochemi\u0105 i biologi\u0105 molekularn\u0105 widzenia. Jego badania przyczyni\u0142y si\u0119 do lepszego poznania enzym\u00f3w odpowiedzialnych za regeneracj\u0119 chromoforu wzrokowego oraz do odkrycia prototypowych inhibitor\u00f3w izomerazy retinoidowej, w tym emiksustatu. Obecnie prowadzi prace nad ma\u0142ocz\u0105steczkowymi antagonistami bia\u0142ek wi\u0105\u017c\u0105cych retinol oraz nad rol\u0105 metabolizmu lipid\u00f3w w chorobach oka, w tym w mechanizmach rozwoju postaci ewaporacyjnej zespo\u0142u suchego oka.
