W spo\u0142ecze\u0144stwie ich cz\u0119sto\u015b\u0107 wyst\u0119powania ro\u015bnie, a objawy nasilaj\u0105 si\u0119 wraz z wiekiem. Wiele chor\u00f3b szlaku wzrokowego zwi\u0105zanych jest z degeneracj\u0105 okre\u015blonych typ\u00f3w kom\u00f3rek nerwowych w siatk\u00f3wce, podczas gdy inne neurony pozostaj\u0105 nienaruszone. Niezale\u017cnie od przyczyny, w zmienionym chorobowo uk\u0142adzie wzrokowym rozwijaj\u0105 si\u0119 patologiczne zmiany w przetwarzaniu informacji wzrokowej.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">W bardziej zaawansowanych stadiach choroby post\u0119puj\u0105ca utrata kom\u00f3rek nerwowych na okre\u015blonym poziomie drogi wzrokowej prowadzi do braku pobudzenia neuron\u00f3w na kolejnych poziomach uk\u0142adu. Z kolei, spadek aktywno\u015bci kom\u00f3rki nerwowej prowadzi do jej degeneracji. Mechanizm ten odpowiada za wt\u00f3rn\u0105 utrat\u0119 zdrowych kom\u00f3rek nerwowych, kt\u00f3re nie zosta\u0142y bezpo\u015brednio dotkni\u0119te chorob\u0105, w p\u00f3\u017aniejszych jej etapach. Procesy te rozwijaj\u0105 si\u0119 stopniowo \u2014 w wi\u0119kszo\u015bci przypadk\u00f3w przez wiele lat \u2014 co stwarza szans\u0119 na zapobieganie wt\u00f3rnym zmianom patologicznym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Celem Grupy OBi jest zapobieganie utracie kom\u00f3rek nerwowych, hamowanie patologicznej plastyczno\u015bci funkcjonalnej oraz przywr\u00f3cenie przetwarzania sygna\u0142\u00f3w wzrokowych w zmienionej chorobowo siatk\u00f3wce poprzez dostosowanie i wzmocnienie aktywno\u015bci pozosta\u0142ych kom\u00f3rek nerwowych.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nasz zesp\u00f3\u0142 biologii molekularnej wykorzystuje najnowsze osi\u0105gni\u0119cia genetyki i technik znakowania przy wykorzystaniu wirus\u00f3w w celu opracowania nowych terapii genowych wspieraj\u0105cych struktury kom\u00f3rkowe odpowiedzialne za odbi\u00f3r bod\u017ac\u00f3w wzrokowych.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">W laboratorium elektrofizjologii, z wykorzystaniem technik <em>in vivo<\/em> i <em>in vitro<\/em>, analizujemy lokaln\u0105 i mi\u0119dzystrukturaln\u0105 komunikacj\u0119 pomi\u0119dzy r\u00f3\u017cnymi populacjami neuron\u00f3w odpowiedzialnych za przetwarzanie informacji wzrokowej w zdrowej i chorej siatk\u00f3wce oraz m\u00f3zgu. Analiza ta pozwala nam zrozumie\u0107 kluczowe zmiany w funkcjonowaniu sieci neuronalnych wzroku w warunkach patologicznych.
