The lecture reviews optical solutions proposed to compensate for the loss of accommodation caused by presbyopia or crystalline lens removal during cataract surgery. It discusses varifocal elements, intraocular lenses controlled by ciliary muscle action, multifocal and EDOF lenses, and the possibility of replacing faulty eye optics without significantly reducing visual quality
