Optoretlnography Is a technique that uses an optical probe to reveal neuronal activity in the retina. In our implementation, we used adaptive optics (AO) optical coherence tomography (OCT) to obtain optoretlnograms from photoreceptors in the living human eye. OCT is a technology that uses Interferometry to obtain depth-resolved profiles of tissue. Phase-resolved OCT measures extremely small changes of optical path length, in turn enabling the detection of the response of photoreceptors to a visual stimulus as a conformational change. The use of AO allows to obtain diffraction-limited images of the retina, resolving individual photoreceptors
