The seminar examines whether a G-deleted rabies virus (RVΔG) can infect different retinal cell types. Rabies virus can infect neurons through retrograde transport, and modified versions can drive strong expression of protein-coding genes. The study compares infection in healthy and degenerated mouse retina to test whether RVΔG could be useful in retinal research and gene-therapy approaches.
About the speaker
Anna Galińska is a PhD student at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, and ICTER, where she works in the Ophthalmic Biology Group. She earned BSc and MSc degrees in biotechnology, specialising in chemical biotechnology, drugs and cosmetics, from the Warsaw University of Technology in 2019 and 2021. Her research focuses on viral vectors for gene therapies and neuronal electrophysiology.
